Your Health & Drug Plan Coverage

All full-time undergrads are automatically enrolled in the USC Extended Benefit Health Plan, and are accessed a fee of $96.00 for this Plan upon Registration. The Plan is effective from September 1st to August 31st, each year, and offers benefits specifically designed for student needs. Students who are covered under an equivalent extended benefit health care plan (in addition to your standard provincial coverage) may choose to "opt-out" of the USC plan..

Drug Plan:

The USC/MBA Plan covers 80% of the cost of Prescription Drugs to a maximum of $10,000. There is a $7.90 Dispensing Fee Maximum per prescription.

Coverage is limited to the cost of the lowest priced equivalent item in the applicable generic category that can be legally used to fill your prescription. The USC/MBA plan covers up to a 34 day supply of therapeutic drugs and up to a 100 day supply for maintenance drugs unless prior approval is obtained from the Administrator.

• Most prescriptions drugs or medicines
• Insulin injectables
• Eligible benefits include drugs legally requiring a prescription by law, needles and syringes. The generic equivalent drug substitution applies.
• Allergy serums
• Oral contraceptives
• Vaccinations are covered at 80% and included in your Prescription Drug Maximum. This benefit is only covered when required to complete a course.

Exclusion:

• ALL acne preparations
• Preventative vaccines, including hepatitis B
• Contraceptives, other than ORAL
• Anti smoking remedies
• Fertility drugs
• Over the counter products or medicines available without a prescription. Serums and vitamins are also ineligible unless injected and medically necessary.
